A great show starts with a safe one. Follow these basics every time you light, and keep a water source and a clear firing area on hand.
Before you light
Five rules for every crew

Clear the area
Fire from a flat, hard surface away from buildings, dry grass and spectators.

One at a time
Light a single item, then step back well beyond the recommended distance.

Never relight
A dud stays down. Wait 20 minutes, then soak it — do not lean back over it.

Water on hand
Keep a hose or bucket ready, and soak spent items before disposal.
